Rysy - Polish-Slovak summit border crossing in the High Tatras Mountains

Rysy peak is possible to ascend from the Slovak side and also from Polish side. The peak is natural crossing point between Slovakia and Poland. From Slovak side: the trail is starting at Strbske pleso and passing around Zabie lakes and mountain hut pod Rysmi (2250 m) open during the summer hiking season (June 15 - October 31). From Polish side: trail is starting from the Morskie Oko lake. This hiking trail is steep and hard.

Availability to use Rysy summit to cross the border between Slovakia and Poland can be used in period June 15 - October 31, otherwise the trail on the Slovak side of the High Tatras Mountains is closed.

You still need to carry with you ID card or passport nevertheless both countries are in Schengen area.
