Unique Potato Cellars in Liptovska Teplicka

Cellars in Liptovska Teplicka for storing potatoes and vegetables pear-shaped pits are dug into the limestone soil.

Cellars are 2.5 to 3 meters deep with coverings made from logs and a layer of soil sprinkled on top. One in the cellar can hold 30 sacks of potatoes.

Cellars are found in just one place near the area of the cemetery below the Turnicka hill.

At present there is 400 of them. Local inhabitants from Liptovska Teplicka still use them and they are numbered because of evidence.
